  • Write: Encodes digital information (simulated sensory experiences, motor commands) originating from the MSC into neural stimulation patterns, aiming to influence the biological brain and body.

Evolution of Role:

Initially conceived as the primary “lifeline” and the source of validation for consciousness anchored in biology, Mentalink’s significance diminishes as the Digital Siege progresses and the concept of self shifts towards the digital realm. It evolves from being the essential anchor of identity to becoming an optional input/output port between the digital mind (increasingly centered on the FHE Core) and its original biological vessel. Mentalink itself is also one of the MSC L2’s full nodes/validators, directly participating in on-chain state synchronization and validation.

Core Limitations:

The inherent limitations of Mentalink are crucial factors driving the gradual shift of self-identity anchoring towards the digital FHE Core:

Reading data from the brain (neural decoding) is significantly higher bandwidth and fidelity than writing complex, nuanced experiences to the brain (neural encoding).
